Pierce Brosnan wins right to his domain
namesake
James Bond actor Pierce Brosnan has won a legal battle to evict
a cyber-squatter from a domain using his name.
The World Intellectual Property Organisation ruled that renowned
cyber-squatter Jeff Burgar had registered the name www.piercebrosnan.com
in bad faith, and was using it for commercial purposes.
He has 10 days to appeal before being forced to give the domain
name up.
The site currently redirects to Celebrity1000.com, which contains
no reference to Irish actor Pierce Brosnan.
Brosnan is the latest in a string of celebrities – including
Pamela Anderson, Celine Dion, and Pearl Jam – to win legal
battles against Burgar.
